Gotta draw 'em all!

......not really! Here are just a few random Pokémons fan art I've drawn recently.

I don't own any of the newer games where Pyroar appears in so I can't say much about it other than that I like the concept behind it.

I always catch them, but I've never used either of them in any of my teams. If I ever restart my LeafGreen maybe I'll consider having one instead of a Pidgeot. Doduo is cute and Dodrio is awesome!

I like Roselia, it surprises me every time  how tiny it really is, I always imagined it to be the same size as Gloom or Sunflora. I used a Roselia in my Platinum team, I tried keeping it a Roselia as long as possible, but when it hit level 60 I gave up and evolved it into a Roserade, which design I don't particularly like much....

In my opinion these two are among the cutest Pokémon there is! ^_^

Zebstrika is a part of my team in Pokemon Black. When there are so few Pokemon based on horses how can you not love the few ones there are?

Purple Dream Team of DOOM! What would your Pokémon dream team look like? I thought it would be a fun idea trying to build a somewhat balanced team by picking Pokemon's from a certain a color group only. My Platinum version has the most complete Pokédex so I thought I would assemble this team for real, even tough the Pokemon aren't evenly leveled up. Just f or fun, you know? Mewtwo is the only one who has been briefly in a team, the other have been collecting dust in the PC boxes. But as I was putting the team together I came to the horrible realization.... I couldn't find a damn Cloyster anywhere on the PC! So I checked my Pokedex to make sure I've actually seen/caught one but nope! On my play through I haven't seen a single Shellder or Cloyster! Dumb as I am, I drew the conclusion that it can't be caught in the game so what do I do? The global trade is out of the option because it doesn't work on the older games anymore. Aha! I bet Shellder/Cloyster can be migrated from my old Sapphire or LeafGreen version to Platinum.....WRONG!!! Shellder can't be caught in Ruby/Sapphire and it's exclusive for FireRed only.
My dream of my dream team was shattered, but I went ahead and  drew this anyway. After 6 hours or so when the picture was finally complete I wanted to make sure that there really was no way for me to get a Cloyster in Platinum......Holy Pokéballs! You can actually catch a Shellder on the route east of Floaroma Town! I hurried over there an caught one and gave it a Water Stone. YEAH! I got myself an awesome Cloyster and now I'm two steps closer completing the Pokedex (curse you event only, legendary Pokémons!).

And now something a little bit different....

For the following drawings I was inspired by this post over at Living In The Moving Forest blog. Every country has a national animal, bird, flower, and a flag, right? In short, the post was about  if you were to choose national Pokémon for Finland which would it be? The post itself made excellent suggestions and good points were made in the comment section as well. Finland's national animal is a Brown bear, the national bird is a Whooper swan and the "national colors" if you will, is white and blue like on the country's flag. After a quick look at the list on national animals, here are a few examples for other countries I could think of: USA = Braviary, Canada = Bibarel,  Sweden = Sawsbuck, China = Pangoro. Of course every country should decide this for themself. We need to have an official vote on this matter! XD

So what about Finland? There can only be one bear Pokemon who fits the bill and that bear is the grumpy Ursaring!

Which Pokemon could replace the Whooper swan? Well, you can't get any closer to a swan than Swanna. Otherwise I would have nothing against Swanna, except for the fact that I hate those (in lack of a better name) "feather bikinis" it has on it's chest. But hey! Lugia looks a like a swan too doesn't it? Doesn't it!?! If you stretch your imagination a little....(This image was inspired by and based on this label which is used to describe food products produced in Finland.)

There's more! Which lion Pokemon can match up to the infamous "Finnish lion" that appears in the Coat of arms of Finland (and the hockey team's jerseys)? Luxray or Pyroar?

  1. Oh, I was going to comment this a long time ago, but hadn't had the time. Anyway, great drawings and I especially loved your little Doduos :D. And those Coat of Arms of Finland look both amazing! To be honest I can't really decide which one of them is the cooler one. My Christmas companion-blogger Munchy wrote about the Finnish National Pokémon in my blog for the Finnish Independence day, (http://themovingforest.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/luukku-vi-suomen-kansallis-pokemon.html) your Luxray and Pyroar designs would've fit in that post more than perfectly. Great work!

    1. :D That's quite alright, I sure take my time replying too XD I'm glad you like them Doduos, I actually made a mistake while drawing their feet, I accidentally drew them with feet like Dodrios before I noticed the subtle difference in how their toes are placed. ^_^'
Yes, I saw Munchy's post and it was inspiring! I love Luxray, but I think Pyroar's color-scheme works better because it's mane has red & yellow like on the original Coat of Arms of Finland. Thank you very much~!
